No, Jason Derulo Did Not Just Fall Down the Steps at the 2023 Met Gala

Assume you are attending the Cannes Film Festival in 2011 at this time. You’re strolling down a flight of stairs in a white tuxedo with cameras following you at every step, but you’re in good spirits. Then, with everyone watching, you trip and fall absolutely humiliatingly down those stairs.

Twelve years later, you find photographs of yourself online, but people are mistakenly calling you Jason Derulo and saying you’re “falling down the steps of the Met Gala,” which is strange considering you’re not actually at the Met Gala.
In 2023, this meme is STILL being propagated, and it has since expanded to practically every award show, including the Grammy Awards, the Golden Globes, the Oscars, the Met Gala in 2022, and the Met Gala in 2023.
Here is a recent tweet that either blessed or cursed the timeline:

When someone on the internet at random concluded that this mysterious man in a white suit looked like Jason and tweeted that he fell down the steps of the 2015 Met Gala, the joke was first started. Jason stated that he wasn’t there and that he was actually in Los Angeles attending a rehearsal when it initially appeared. I’m at a rehearsal in Los Angeles, LOL. Fuck you all! Haha,” he wrote at the moment on Instagram. Then, as if by necessity, this happened once more at the Met Gala in 2018.

This meme literally will not die. Thankfully, people are both in on the running joke (I mean, just look at that shoddy Photoshop work lol), and are starting to set the record straight on the interwebs and reminding people that this isn’t, in fact, Jason.

Ugh, glad we got this cleared up.
